Save the Date for a Celebration!

Adult Recognitions are a special way of saying “thank you” to adult volunteers in Girl Scouting who provide invaluable support. Do you know a volunteer who goes above and beyond the call of duty to support Girl Scouts? Show your appreciation for everything they do by nominating them for an adult Girl Scout recognition. Nominations for Board-approved recognitions are due by March 15.

All volunteers are invited to celebrate our award recipients and the hard work of volunteers across our council at our Volunteer Celebration Luncheon on May 20 at Camp Farnsworth in Thetford, VT. Save the date and watch your email for a special invitation later this month.

Early Membership Renewal

Spring is right around the corner! It’s time to start thinking about ways to encourage girls and their parents to renew for another great year of Girl Scout leadership and adventure. Starting April 1, renewal registration will be available to all current members. During our Early Registration promotion period from April 1 to June 30, each girl that registers will receive a FREE Power of G.I.R.L. patch. Our membership fee is $40 for girl membership and $25 for adult membership.

Time to Update Your Troop’s Information

Leaders, now is the time to review and update the Opportunity Catalog with your troop description, meeting day, time and location, and girl and volunteer spots available. Our council team will be reaching out to all troop leaders over the next few weeks to be sure that your Opportunity Catalog listing is ready for Early Registration. Contact the Customer Care Team at customercare@girlscoutsgwm.org to review and update any changes.

Please note that leaders renewing their membership may temporarily lose access to the VTK until their membership is processed and approved. This normally will take 2 business days, but will be longer if you also need to renew your background check. Lifetime members do not need to purchase new membership but need to renew their volunteer role for 2019.

This spring we will activate the Finances Tab, an online form that will allow you to submit your Annual Troop/Group Financial Report through the VTK. Troops can choose to submit reports through the VTK or via the traditional paper method. Annual Reports are due May 31, 2018.

Coming mid-March are two new training webinars to help you complete your financial reports: Finance 101: Managing your Troop Bank Account and Finance 102: Completing and Submitting your Annual Financial Report.

GSUSA Voices Count!

In early April, GSUSA will be emailing all members the annual “Voices Count” survey. Customized surveys will be sent to all troop leaders, parents, and girls. We encourage our members to complete this survey as the feedback is extremely valuable to our council and helps us to improve on the experiences that girls, leaders, and families have. In mid-May, GSUSA will send surveys to all Volunteer Support Coordinators.

  • If someone is a leader and a parent, they will receive 2 surveys.
  • If someone has a daughter who is a Girl Scout and is under the age of 12, the survey will be sent to the primary parent’s email on file.
  • If someone has multiple daughters in Girl Scouts, they will receive surveys for each individual girl.
  • Girls over the age of 13 who have their own email address connected to their membership will receive the survey directly.
